Hita City, Oita Prefecture Home of plums in Oyama.

Oyama, the back parlor of Hita, a city formerly under the direct control of the Edo Shogunate, is a scenic spot blessed with the Hibiki Gorge and plum.
Its visage shrouded in the morning fog exude the ambiance of Chinese ink painting.
We named the area “Okuhita Onsen” and call the inn “Umehibiki.”

Cuisine

We serve seasonal dishes made with local ingredients.

Ume no Yojo Zen

Umeboshi (pickled plum) is believed to keep the doctor away. At Umehibiki, we take care to serve food that is good for the mind and the body. Start the meal with our special plum wine as an aperitif.

Breakfast made with local ingredients replenishes the whole body.

We use local ingredients for preparing the breakfast.
Enjoy the mini buffet with drinks and salads, and seasonal herb teas made with fresh herbs gathered in Oyama after breakfast. You can charge your body with energy for the whole day with a wide range of simple, yet creatively prepared dishes and rice cooked in the traditional pot, which makes tasty scorched rice.

Bath with a view of Hibiki Gorge

The morning fog silently weaving through the mountains and the sky that looks as if it is under a magic spell as the sun sets, are truly otherworldly in the clear air of the morning and the panorama of Hibiki Gorge that unfolds before your eyes.
Pleasantly warm water will surround your body as you lie on a slab in the reclining tub and you will feel as if everything is being cleansed away.

*The reclining tub is available in Ryokuho only (Ryokuho
and Aojiku are open to men and women alternately in rotation)
